Letter to Sen McCain RE CBRN use in Syria

Max the Mad Russian

Hands off Ukraine! Feet too
Non-zero chance this event was calculated by Israel in order to drive a wedge between Asad and Russia.

That's why I've asked about jamming of S-200 fusing if not guiding. IAF Sufas' crews were always a masters of Wild Weasel missions. Why not so in this case? Ok, I took Flash's warning seriously, so it is just a rhetorical question

Huh?

Latest I've seen online, so take that for what it's worth, is that the Israeli jets were back over Israel by the time the Syrians shot down the Russian aircraft. If history is any guide Syrian incompetence is still the most likely of scenarios given the info so far.

Chechnya and Syria are apples and oranges. Chechnya is part of the northern Caucasus - defensible terrain between the Black and Caspian Seas. You can expect Russia to hold this at all costs…..
As for the future of the Turks and Erdogan, perhaps it is time to think of Ataturk as a century long aberration and instead go back to the future - to prepare for the return of The Ottomans.
Good article from “The Economist”
