Tips:
- Strongly recommend going to a civilian ophthalmologist to see if you're even qualified and to not waste your time.
- If you fail DP at MEPS (which most likely will happen), it is not over by any means. My recruiter is letting me take the vision portion of a flight physical by a flight doc. A flight physical allows you to take all three tests. So if you fail the AFVT, you can ask for the Randot test (wear glasses and look at a book) which is a lot easier. You can also do vision therapy to improve DP. Remember, no civilian waivers are accepted for failing DP.
- Get glasses if you are borderline 20/20 and under 20/40. You need to get all the letters right to pass the vision acuity portion of the flight physical.
- In case you are concerned with the anthropometric standards:
- Sitting Height: Bottom of buttocks to top of head
- Buttock Knee Length: Back of butt to front of knees
- Thump-Tip Reach FR: Stand in corner, put arm out. Measure from back wall to the tip of right thumb.
