Congratulations. You got one of a small number of contracts that are apparently evaporating. Your Point of Contact will give you a list of stuff to get done. Your "qualify with the FBI" thing is either a background check (which you probably already did) or your security clearance. Your point of contact will give you a Standard Form 86 to fill out. It'll take you a hell of a long time and it'll ask you for lots of obscure information. No biggy if you don't have a sordid past.

Thanks man! Yea, I was worried about getting this contract, when I heard I did I was ecstatic! Ughh more forms of course, sounds like fun!

Congrats. Have you checked out MarineOCS.com yet?

Thanks. Not really. I really want to go to OCS with a 300 PFT which I am getting close to, and with all that stuff memorized, but cant find a good site, with just the stuff to have memorized (verbatim, and all that stuff). I either run into handbook which are 100 pages long, or something which I am not sure would apply. Would it be there?

Congrats on getting accepted! The first of many achievements you have to check off. Now it's time to put your game face on and take full advantage of this opportunity. Step up your game at each higher level, and never rest on your laurels, as the competition will increase as well. Stay far away from naysayers, misery loves company, they're a miserable bunch. Good luck!

He's lying. All the rumors I've heard said the USMC wasn't going to pass out any air contracts for FY2010. Don't believe him. ;)

It's been awhile, but I seem to remember that the gouge on this website's OCS section was (is?) infinitely better than the crapfest that was (is?) marineocs.com.

The problem with that website is that people stop going there as soon as they finish OCS, so it is just a bunch of pre-OCS dudes running their sucks to each other about random crap they heard.

Congrats on getting a slot, now don't jack it up.

Keep a copy of the SF86 after you turn it in. Every 5 years you need to update your clearance and having the old version really helps when they ask for you previous addresses from the last 10 years. Since you'll be moving around A LOT over the next few years, when you go to renew your clearance, it's nice to have a copy of your old addresses to list.

Learn from my mistake!!

I think he means contracted. I think you can still get an air contract, but no selections until at least OCC-205. Congratulations though Garrett, it's a big step. I'm contracted air too in san diego, so hopefully we'll get a chance in October. Keep the faith. :)

Garrett P - So have you not been sent to Pensacola for a flight physical yet? I'm just curious because last summer (July/August) when I was going through the process my OSO told me that the board wouldn't review packages for air contract selection until flight physicals were completed. Consequently, I had to wait for a flight physical (September) and then they dropped the bomb about no air contracts for FY '10 about two weeks after I went to Pensacola. Congrats on the selection, btw!

Wait a minute...if you're going to PLC just ignore everything I said.

So this SF86 form, is just like all the other form I have done with background checking correct? Just more in depth? Thanks for the advice.

Hop into your Corvette and do some victory donuts?? :)

Hahah maybe I will go for a cruise!

Luckily I live 10 minutes from Miramar in San Diego, so I just need to walk in there for an appointment. Haha and yea, I dont need to have my physical done for a while, but my OSO said it takes about 7 months to go through so get it completed now.
