EWS or Command and Staff-Formal school is never a negative. Command and Staff will also allow you to get a Masters Degree in Military Science. Education will never hurt your career.

Training Command-People can further their careers in the Training Command but as the saying goes "out of sight, out of mind." It hurts the Navy more then the Marines. It all depends on the needs of the Marine Corps. AV-8 pilots who are in the Training Command presently are facing this problem. AV-8's cut 24 Field Grade slots so their are O-4's wondering if they will have a home in the fleet.

RAG-Always good to maintain corporate knowledge of your platform. Keeps you out of the deployment rotation but you are still working your assets off.
