Dude, 8820 is not an entry-level MOS. That's an additional MOS that you may acquire after doing a tour or two in the operational forces, doing Naval Postgraduate School or similar program, then doing specialized work in acquisitions, MCCDC, OPTEVFOR, or the like. This isn't a career-type thing. A couple of guys get this per year, if that, and they're fairly experienced guys. There are some weird cubbyholes in every service with some weird, and cool (for some people) jobs. You still have to be happy with the meat and potatoes work in the operational forces as a line aviator before these opportunities are available. Often the timing is not there to support it.
