If married people (or prospective married people) are getting hooked up when others aren't, that's complete BS. Kinder gentler, I suppose. I feel like channeling A4s.

I don't think it's as much of the "kindler, gentler", although that may play into it.

Moreover, it's economics. A servicemember with dependents would be entitled a PCS for the move to API and then at least a partial, if not full, PCS to Corpus or Vance, if that's where they get sent. If that same guy gets PCS'd to API and then goes to Whiting, with Whiting and P-cola being so close, they only get one PCS. I'd say it'd be safe to wager at least 90% of married guys get sent to Whiting. Doing it this way saves the Navy a ton of cash each year.

Ohhh.....Well at least your vet can have it euthanized, that would have been beneficial to the tune of $2500 a month for MB.

A one way annulment, that might not be so bad. How many IDIOTS remarry their ex wives or marry their ex sister in law?
MB might need a hypnotist, .........spot cute, land manatee ugly, spot cute.....

Honest question - even though it would be more economical, does the big green/blue machine really care about those kind of costs? If they did, wouldn't they send all Corpus jet guys to Kingsville, or try to get most Whiting guys in helo slots or Corpus guys in prop slots (obviously grade and availability dependent)? Like I said - honest question for anyone who might have some insight...

So waive the min scores required for jet selection in order to save some PCS money? I think that would cost much more money in the long term... people who attrite from jets both in the VTs and the RAG, people who crash jets who shouldn't have been flying them in the first place, etc.

I said nothing about waiving min scores...
Just asked hypothetically if the Navy/Marine Corps were worried about spending money to send married guys to Corpus/Vance, wouldn't they want to send most Corpus jet guys to Kingsville and Whiting guys to Meridian? I know this isn't the case, so why would they care about paying for who they PCS for primary?

I think so. Pretty austere fiscal environment these days. I think "they" (NAE) have it down to a gnat's ass how much it costs (total costs including PCS moves) to train a stud. I think when the costs to doing business the current way outweigh the benefits, you will probably see a change of sorts. It's called "readiness through affordable training."

It would also be difficult to determine who's going where early on as selection happens after primary, so studs are going to have to move regardless. That's the difficulty of having 2 primary training sites.

Oh, ok, I did misinterpret your original post a little. I thought you were basically saying that SNA's would be preselected for a pipeline based on the geographic location they did Primary at, all in the name of saving money.

As for the jet pipeline specifics I couldn't say... quality spread maybe?

Just ask when you show up to API. I asked for Whiting and got Whiting. However, I was told that they try to keep the married guys at Whiting because it is cheaper so you might not even need to ask...
