The Russians did a lot of research in the 1950's on this and found that the turquoise color would assist crews in staying alert and calm, especially during high stress situations. Soviet defector and MiG-25 Pilot Viktor Belenko said they found it to be more soothing and relaxing for the flight crew. You'll also find that McDonnell Douglas also used this color in their cockpits on the DC-7.

Yes Belenko knew Fishbed very well while he had only about 30 flying hours in a Foxbat. One can treat Belenko's escape as s/he wishes but this guy has the balls and healthy mind. Cdr Sablin a year before (trying to hijack a frigate and run for Sweden) had the balls too but clearly went crazy...
 
$40K for a Fishbed... cheap enough. Generally a lot of MiG-21s are offered for sale but the most useful way to utilize them is to exchange between aviation/air museums: Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow is regularly obtaining quite rare birds (Portuguese AF Corsair II or one of the first production RAF Harrier GR.3 with Falkland War marks) exchanging them for a bunch of Fishbeds each.

Surely so:eek:. Fishbed could be dangerous for F-4 but not for F-14, though the ultimate enemy for Fishbed pilot to fear of and get out of dogfight as early as possible, as I've been told, was F-15C as the aircraft beating MiG-21 in all possible respects.

No it's just a plenty of green paintings due to the fact that prisons' guard service of NKVD/MGB/MVD had the same supply chain equal for all centralized military, and vehicles, lorries and cars, and tanks/APCs as well were all green (stupid enough for southern and Arctic regions btw). Accordingly, the rural houses of the officers and NCOs who had those, and the fences around them were painted in the same way by stolen paints. The biggest fucking country of the world was painted all dark green as there wasn't the greater happines for average Soviet man than to steal something from government property and not being charged with it. Kinda multi-repeated personal revenge to a state for its, state, bad attitude to a citizens. "It's not bad to be a thief. It's bad to get under investigation." This is the main difference between us I think, all the others are not so important. Protestantic roots of American democracy blame the theft, and even the wild capitalism didn't override that influence. Russian orthodox christianity said something like: life's unfair and if the only way for you to get the living wage from the world is to steal, so be it. It's bad and you'll be punished, but who knows when and how tough? Steal and pray, dude, vaya con Dios. Until now there's a lot of people here who's spelling it everyday...
