They're actually building a second Walmart & Lowes. I was personally excited when they built the Home Depot. Also, there's a Texas Roadhouse & Best Buy now... Very exciting developments since I was on deployment!
 
I dunno...I really enjoyed being on the west coast as a young single guy. Del Mar E club used to be the place to be in 94.
 
Don't like Walmart. You can get anything you want from Walmart.... except quality. And as far as groceries go... I miss HEB in Texas.

<--old married fart now. But I hear 'they' shut the Del Mar e club down, can anyone confirm it? 95 was the last time I was there....
 
Here's some stuff to do in NC

Here's an 18 lbs Mahi Mahi I caught, Man what a fight. We also caught an 11 lbs Mahi, 15 lbs King, 35" Barracuda, 4 small brown sharks, and a butt load of sea bass.

It was there in 96, and there was an E-club there in 2002, albeit a bit different than I remembered. Besides, if they shut it down, where would all the West-Pac Widows go??

They did, however, shut down the NCO club that used to be right by the airstation barracks on Pendleton. That place was the quintessential E-club--right out of Heartbreak Ridge or something. It was a Quonset Hut, with brick interior walls, and was filled with Marine propaganda and old folks as staff. First, they made it into an all-ranks club, and then they ripped it down to make a parking lot. Bastards.
