MCMAP at NAS Pensacola/Whiting/Corpus Christi

Anecdotally, a friend checked in to MATSG-21 back when a month or two of downtime in the pool was standard. He tore his ACL doing MCMAP at the end TBS, so he became the MOC daddy (student managing the pool) for a very long time until he finally got cleared medically. He then had another month or two of downtime, so obviously they made him do MCMAP. It should also be obvious that he then tore his ACL again.
Our peer group is in the fleet, and his flight suit Friday was last month. MCMAP with caution, or more preferably, not at all.

...with the caveat that MCMAP and your PFT/CFT score could potentially be used for a promotion or board tie breaker. Over all though...it does not matter that much for pilots and NFOs. Infantry and other combat arms officers do seem to care about it much much more.
