I am currently in the process of completing my application, and I only need 1 motivational statement. Maybe its different going from enlisted to officer.

Which rev of the application are you using?

I am using OPNAV 1420/1 Rev 01-2008

Being able to learn a topic quickly will give me more time to gain greater knowledge. It will allow me more time to interact with the crew away from poring over books.

That sound better? I re-read it and it did sound somewhat awkward. Think that changes it for the better.

Just like twobecrazy said - it's not really the message you want to put across. As small as it may be, it puts a negative context around studying and basically describes overconfidence.

On a side note, being able to learn a topic quickly is a double-edged sword, particularly the mindset that it creates.... as in: "I'll learn things quick, so I don't need to study" - that mindset will bite you big time at some point in time in you're not careful.

You sound far too over confident. Even if prior enlisted who did well in power school with tons of fleet experience, classes on the O-decks are no joke.

Better to just get rid of it. Over confidence is not something NR wants to see

As a commissioned officer I will be on the path to command at-sea; the pinnacle of an officer’s career.
sidebar-I told the admiral my ultimate goal was command at sea during my interview, he laughed and told me I'd be older than he is now when I got there (I'm about your age).

I'd watch the over confidence but don't see yourself short either. I'm in the process of completing a packet for SNA,NFO, or AMDO and I was recently told that compared to my credentials, I sold myself short in my statement. Thankfully the LCDR who told me that is also helping me hone my statements and the rest of my packet. Since your enlisted I suggest you turn to your COC for help. I know it's hard to find someone who in genuinely interested in helping you reach your goals but perhaps you CMC, XO, CO knows someone who has sat on a few boards. Let's face the facts, if you get picked up it makes them look good so it's in their best interest to find someone that can help you achieve your goals. In my experience it's the "Mustangs" that are more willing to help. As far as the age waiver goes, I needed one myself. I had to fill out a NAVPERS 1306 and get it endorsed by the CO. Attached to that was my request for an age waiver signed by me PM with your email and I'll send you a copy of. what I wrote. Once the paperwork was send to BUPERS I got my age waiver in 4 days

If I may add a tip that helped me and practically changed the entire foundation of my motivational statement: be honest with YOURSELF. I notice alot of applicants write down what they think the Board wants to hear, instead of just being open. You will want to avoid the norm: in other words there will be many applicants who will give the same speech about what the meaning of honor, courage, and commitment are. And I guarantee they have read EVERY possible definition of each word repeatedly. What's important is what the Navy's core values mean to YOU. Why do you REALLY seek commission? Be honest with yourself, show it in your statement. Speak to them on a more personal level. Remember, this is the ONE chance you have of presenting yourself to the Board, and showing them who you really are.
