Moving to Oceana... where to live??

Just got assigned to VFA-106 out of NAS Oceana, and I have NO IDEA where people typically live out there. Haven't found a lot of recent stuff on here.
Wife and I are looking to rent a house/condo/duplex type place with a yard for the dog and at LEAST 800 sq. ft. of living space, (storage would be a plus.) Anyone with property management contacts etc. as well as knowledge of good neighborhoods, your input would be greatly appreciated.

18c/d's... can't WAIT! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Word of advice, don't buy until you're done. They'll tell you when you show up, guys have done it anyway. Nothing sucks more than buying a place then moving again.

There are a lot of properties on the south side of base around Dam Neck, which make the commute almost a joke. Lots of things to do close by and a quick drive to the beach. Living up on Shore Drive however is a lot more fun, but can make for a painful drive in heavy traffic.

Plenty of places of all sizes and descriptions and more being built every week. Depending on ho wmuch you want to spend, you should be able to do better than 800 sq ft.

Whether you rent or buy, my advice is don't live anywhere you have to get on 64/264 or Independence Blvd to get to work. The traffic sucks balls. Lots of new construction to the east/SE/south, so you should be able to find something with a short commute.

The market in HR sucks at the moment, and sellers are desperate (I speak as someone whose Norfolk house was on the market for nine months). You might have luck finding someone who's renting out because they've given up on selling, and would be willing to entertain a rent-with-option-to-buy contract. Best of both worlds right there.
