Yeah, I read the packet. It is pretty standard as far as I can tell. I have had some friends that are in A-pool now waiting to class up for API that said they will give us everything and tell us everything at that brief. They said be prepared to be treated like a 3rd grader.. Kinda expected that though..

Thats good. I think I would rather be frustrated about getting too much information than lost due to a lack there of.

Sounds like you've been getting good gouge. I finished API in August, and closing in on finishing Primary here at Pensacola (for NFOs) in a month or so. When you arrive, you'll be put in A-pool, a holding pool for students to class up for IFS/API. Read the welcome packet, but you'll basically have your hand held through the process by Flight Management. Ya, maybe they treat you like 3 year olds during muster, but as a former Flight Management stash, you'd be surprised how suposingly "responsible" O-1s can mess up the easiest of jobs:showing up for attendence in the morning and then having the other 23.5 hours of the day off. As for the Q, I haven't heard of anyone being forced to stay there, get the stamp on your orders to move off, there are plenty of good places to make a killing on your BAH off base. Pets aren't allowed at the Q I'd assume - they're nice rooms, but small, and definitely not pet friendly.

The official word is that everyone is required to live in the Q unless you're married and moving your family here. Realistically, the Q NEVER has room for permanent housing so you'll end up taking your orders to the receptionist in the BOQ and she'll stamp them saying " Room unavailable" and you can move out in town and get BAH. Then you just have to find a place to live. The Q is a good place to live while you're searching- you get up to 10 days reimbursement while you file your travel.

SNA's

I have a master bedroom (fully furnished- bed, dresser, desk, bookshelf) for rent $500 and it includes utilities. I own the house so no lease is required or 30 day notice to leave. Right now I'm in primary and expect to be around for a while. This would be ideal for single SNA's who are unsure where they're going for primary. The house is 20 minutes from NAS Pensacola. If you have any questions email me peachesnel@hotmail.com

I'd recommend finding a nice hotel on the beach for those 10 days. You'll get reimbursed up to $180/day for lodging. Might as well stay somewhere nice if you're not paying for it.

There are roughly 198 people in A-pool right now....only 1 guy lives in the Q....and no one knows why.

that was me, and it was for one week until I found a place. Also, if your a pilot, DONT live in the Q. Our orders are temporary and not permanent so you won't get your money back until you at Primary--which at this rate will be next year.
