Ok... no one yell at me... I worry alot... Is there any way I would get down to Pensacola and be told that there is no way I can live off base, that I have to stay in the BOQ and cant draw BAH? I am single if that makes a difference.

Doesn't seem like it right now. In fact the opposite was happening. As of a month or so ago the BOQ people were saying that API students were not allowed to live in the BOQ and had to either live off base, or live in the BEQ at Corry Station.

I live in Marcus Pointe Grande, which is in Northern Pcola. Great apartments, and they are brand new! I live in a 1 bedroom, but they have 2 and 3 bedrooms available. Prices are about equal to Governor's Gate and Eaton Square. I am less than 10 miles from NAS and like 1-2 miles from Interstate 10 which takes you up to Milton.

Yes, some people do buy houses; I know less than a handful that have bought a house - most people just rent a house or apartment. It's definitely more trouble than renting, but I haven't heard anybody say it was too much trouble. If you're looking to buy, you will have a better selection of properties to choose from, as there are a lot more houses available for sale than for rent here.

How about a quick Pensacola "memory lane" question? When I was in PCola, I lived in a small duplex, right on a bayou -- about 1/4 mile from the Mainside front gate. It would have been on the west side of the street. There used to be an Italian restuarant on the east side immediately prior to going over the bridge. It was a great place (late 60's/early '70's) and kind of a Navy student/instructor hang-out.

Is it still there ... ???

The Italian restaurant was closed when I was there in Jun-Dec 04, building's still there but nothing in it. Several of the places on the west side of the street were razed after Ivan.

Thanks, appreciate it. I shall forever treasure the memory of their home-made ravioli ....
