Naval Academy Shooting

The reports of an active shooter at the Naval Academy yesterday fortunately turned out to be false, with the threat originating from a (former?) middle's laptop at his home in the Midwest. But apparently as a result of the warnings a scene from the next Naked Gun movie occurred on campus:

"Amid the initial chaos and confusion on campus, the midshipman mistook a law enforcement officer for the shooter and struck him in the head with a parade rifle. The law enforcement officer then fired at the midshipman, wounding him in the arm, the officials said.

Both the midshipman and the law enforcement officer were stable and receiving treatment, the officials said."

Fun thread jack, LEEROY is now a brevity word. It’s the opposite of a ROLEX.

That… is… awesome. I wonder if the original Leeroy has any idea how far his legend has made it.

We used to try and to come up with ways to brief a LEEROY call during workups, usually something along the lines of going to the merge without a targeting assignment.

This is better use of the term.

Your use is definitely apropos, but you are correct in that the ALSA definition is most true to the the original usage.
