Did anybody else sit around in college getting drunk on cheap beer with their drinking buddies and watching Australian Rules Football on ESPN, because ESPN didn't have anything else to put on?

Not knowing the rules was a feature, not a bug.

In late 1979, the brand new ESPN cable network signed its first international TV contract with the Victorian Football League (in 1990, it became the Australian Football League). Coverage began with the 1980 season with matches airing on late Friday and Saturday nights...

My father played WAFL, but was never good enough to go to the VFL.

If you want to watch AFL today, clubs have a "international membership" which is like $150/year or something. It lets you watch every game of every season and most of the panel shows as well. It's very good value...

number9, Fremantle Dockers die-hard
