Also, civilians have the opportunity to do chamber flights, but it seems that many do not know of the opportunities available.
The key here is the "opportunity". Unlike the Navy, this opportunity usually cost either the civilian pilot or his employer money. Therefore most do not avail themselves to the opportunity. Especially since the FAA does not require it.

Money drives the industry.

At Kansas State University, all the pilots flying the King Air and the CJ were required to go through the altitude chamber at the FAA in Oklahoma City. It was basically the same thing as what you do in Pensacola except with civilian O2 masks and the such. There are some companies that do annual reccurent training in OKC on the altitude chamber. Ford Motor Company is one of them.
