Navy Reserves Opportunities for Veterans

Whichever one gives me a prime parking spot. Can't remember if that's HD or Lowe's. Oh well, just give me my 10% discount, and I'll be on my way.

I know it's a marketing strategy but has anyone ever parked in these veteran parking spots? I find it ridiculous. /threadjack out.
I sometimes do, it is 50/50 shot on whether that spot is closer or the regular spots are closer. The Lowes close to me has very pro-veteran leadership and helps out various veterans needs. There are other Lowes and Home Depots that are not, the HD closest to me has eliminated all but 2 of their veteran parking spots and placed equipment blocking those 2, another HD close to me moved their veteran spots over by the lumber yard and out of the way, a Lowes I rarely go to took down their veteran parking when work was done and last I saw had yet to replace it.

I frequent the Lowes that has the veteran parking not due to the veteran parking but because the employees are friendly, helpful, and generally make every customer feel welcome in their store.

Sounds like every Naval Air Station I've ever been stationed at. Each year, remove more and more parking spots, eliminate designated spots, rinse/repeat. Force the sailors to walk from the barracks because where they used to park is now all O/E-7+ parking, who also park further and further away each year. "oh but we needed to put up a fire lane that eliminates 30% of the growler sim building parking because we said so"

More likely, because the law says so, and bases have to follow the law.

Ok CAPT base person who knows the rules :)

It's still annoying though. To your point, I imagine those base front office meetings are really fun.

Not faulting you for using the spots. I'm just railing against the concept. Why don't other honorable professions get special treatment?
Because not many other honorable professions carry the same obligations and sacrifice or are as essential to sustaining our free republic?

Since my stroke I have been rocking the handicapped parking tag. That trumps special parking for veterans, pregnant women, mother with child, O-6 and above or Door Dash pick ups, I have found the proliferation of dedicated retail drive up delivery spots encroaching on special reserved spots of all flavors.

There is a large push within DOD construction projects to reduce paved space and increase "green" space. In a recent update our squadron lost a bunch of parking spots.

I understand the idea of green space, but at the same time most bases are not walkable. And, walking 1/2 mile in sub freezing temperatures in Michigan really sucks.

I'm all for environmental protections, but holy F, this business model revolves around destroying things and dumping billions of pounds of gas into the ocean. The only needle such an initiative is moving is the annoyance of our sailors. Not even being silly here, this might be something the air boss would like to know about (if that is also happening on Navy "soil").
