First thing that caught my eye as well.
But it did not get in the way of me enjoying the parade.
Also, this was a excellently executed major deployment exercise.
There are some unit deployment officers and NCOs who are due well deserve recognition.

Yeah, I hope it gave a recruiting boost. It’s unfortunate that while the 250th presented a great opportunity for this, there is no way given Trumps push in his first admin that the country could mentally separate the two. We can mentally masturbate all day here on crowd sizes, etc, but this is truly one of those events where neither side can prove correlation or causation. Overall think it was a good show for Army.

I still ponder on this story about undocumented immigrants working in Northwest Iowa. A bottom line of the article is that our agriculture industry could not run without the undocumented workers. That this goes on in a community that supports leadership trying to get them all deported presents a quandary.

Nunes kept trying to sue on the issue. Just got elbow-dropped from the top rope in a recent court doing.

No Brett, as usual - when it comes to Trump discussions - you lash out when you should comprehend. I never wrote it was well attended, I wrote it was well received. People clapped and cheered when something “impressed” them (like an old tank, or a new one, or a helicopter) some people clapped when feelings of patriotism took them or when they heard a favorite song. Maybe some even clapped and cheered simply becasue people around them were doing so.

You can waste your brain cells on a dick measuring contest with Trump, I don’t really care about your political viewpoints but you are welcome to them. The man is POTUS and that’s all there is to it. I lived with presidents I agree with, some I don’t, and some who managed to do both, but I served them all (when in uniform) and survived each one just as I will this one. So, enjoy your political hysteria…as for me…I thought it was a damn fine parade. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the equally expensive and patriotic Navy 250th in Philly come October.

Setting aside the mess Nunes has himself in, the idea that “our agriculture industry could not run without undocumented workers” is totally false. Our agriculture industry could run just fine with legally documented workers from all over the world but our Congress refuses to fix the situation. Ideas like “guest workers” or pathways to citizenship are torn down from all sides and all angles because they’d rather have the political talking points. Illegal immigration isn’t impossible to solve, it is just inconvenient to those in power to give up that rallying cry.

I 100% agree that the process could be fixed, but right now as it stands, the surge in deporting the undocumented workers is bringing a number of industries to its knees.

I actually support doing it now, because I feel we need to be brought to our knees on food prices and food availability in order to get us to work on the situation. Protecting our borders is a national security issue, but so is food security.

I spent a summer in college working in Minnesota during the pea and corn harvest as a combine mechanic. It was a 24/7 operation and I worked 60-80 hrs/week. Had the night shift, so 6PM to 6AM plus time on either side to get to and from the field site. Good experience!

To be honest, as a DC-area native the attendance was...underwhelming. In comparison, the Desert Storm victory parade and celebration in June 1991 had a massive crowd. I should know, I was there!
