Need Gouge on Vance, AFB

I did IFS at TBS (Manassas, VA). It was awsome. You had to basically crash the plane in order to be attrited. It didn't matter as no one really had any trouble but it made for a much more "productive" learning enviornment.

To answer your question about where to live while at vance.... Most single guys live in rooms on base and I haven't heard any real complaints about it. Most married guys live in onbase housing. It is small if you have kids but doable. Also, on the long days you can get home quicker and relax if you live on base. There are advantages and disadvantages to both (onbase/offbase) but my opinion is living onbase makes life easier while you are here.

as to your questions about vance. the 12 hour days seem horrible looking at it from pcola, but in truth, with flying evryday and the amount of flying knowledge you will have to become proficient in, you will need more. the environment is not as kindergarten like as it was made out to me, and very much depends on how good your class is doing and who your flight co is. its not bad, as long as you dont suck
