OCS Next Pilot/NFO Board 30 June 2015

So it seems like 6-10 of you from this board have already gotten a FINSEL for August/Sept class dates. I'm curious, did all of you already complete your background interview? I still haven't heard anything about mine and am curious if it needs to be just started or fully completed before receiving a class date.

As someone who's currently unemployed waiting for OCS, my FINSEL can't some soon enough...

From what I've gathered and been told you have to have successfully completed your security/background investigation before your packet even goes to the board. It was one of the first things I completed after my ASTB. My recruiter didn't tell me when mine passed, I had to ask him about it, so most likely yours is finished/passed. As for your purgatory, I would highly suggest picking up a job (possibly a restaurant) to keep your mind off things, that's what I did for the past year and it really helped. Just start studying and stay physically fit, at least you know you're accepted. Hang in there brother!

Interesting, thanks for the advice! Yeah I was thinking of doing something similar. I'll be pretty stoked if I get a September or October class date since there's still time.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty certain I've seen people on here talk about having their background investigation interviews take place (if needed) after being Pro Rec'd or literally a few days before being Pro Rec'd (therefore the package was able to make it to the board without the investigation being completed yet). I don't believe the investigation has to be completed in order for a package to make it to the board. In fact, I just did some searching and in this thread @NavyOffRec seemed to indicate that the requirement is just for OPM to have received the SF86 and for the investigation to be considered "open", not "complete". This is in regards to the claim about the package needing the investigation to be completed to make it the board though, not about needing it to be completed to receive a FINSEL, which I'm not sure about.

I already have a secret clearance from 2007/8, so I think that is what cleared me for my quick FINSEL. But my FINSEL was absolutely needed. 16AUG is the last possible class I can join as an SNA candidate because of my age. Old lol

How long did it take from the time your packet was submitted to you receiving your FINSEL letter?

And when is the next board deadline?

FINSEL depends on a few things: physicals, security clearance, age critical, etc. so there's no hard and fast date from board selection.

The next board is tentatively October but the sooner that you can get your package in the better.

Thanks!!! My recruiter told me that SNA/SNFO boards are "rolling boards" he explained to me the way the rolling boards work, after so many packets they start a new board. Have you heard of this before?

Yep, that's correct. The October date is just an estimation right now based on previous submission numbers. Once they have enough to hold a board they will put out a firm date.

Your recruiter is correct, typical board lapse is around 2 or 3 months.

One more question what's the chances of getting selected for SNFO while in training and crossing over to SNA? Does this ever happen because my recruiter told me if selected for NFO I can always transition into SNA

Just to be clear... the last board deadline was 16 June... so it's possible to have a board mid August/September? And how long does it typically takes the board to come out with the results?
