Welcome to applying to the Navy.
It sucks.

This is incorrect. There is no such thing as a "competitive profile". Candidates names are put in a hat. Said hat is then thrown from one end of the room to the other. The names that fall out of the hat receive a N, while the names that remain inside the hat receive a Y. The amount of hat throws is determined by the objective selection rate, ie; in boards with low selection numbers the hat was likely thrown across the room at least 3 times, maybe more!I've made comments doubting the existence of a board for the last five pages but I'm conceding. Sounds like it definitely happened. Congrats to those who made the board, I'm pulling for you. Mine was submitted today, so I'll be up for the next one.
Met with a commander this week who showed me official stats for a competitive profile. They included a 3.3 GPA and 55/7/7/7 ASTB. He said having a technical degree doesn't matter. Anyways, he talked up the aviation community and the "tribes" within it (jets, helos, P3s). Said it's the best community in the Navy and he would do anything to go back to flight school. Can't wait to be a part of that community with you guys. I'll be on whatever thread is created for the next board. Good luck!
It's called "Hurry Up and Wait". The Navy is big on that.So what good does the Navy get out of NOT informing their recruiters when a board is going to happen? I don't understand the logic there...
This is where I'm at with this whole thing. The recruiter is the only official point of contact for applicants, so it seems much less efficient for the whole recruiting process in general if NRC would hold a board without any notice. Especially looking at the fact that we all get so fired up about the board and making the deadlines. I know in the grand scheme of things it's only ~3 months until the next board, but the idea of tacking that on to the massive wait we already have for the whole process still just plain sucks. So what good does the Navy get out of NOT informing their recruiters when a board is going to happen? I don't understand the logic there...

One thing I was always told, actually, still being told to this day... "You're in the Navy, there is NO logic".So what good does the Navy get out of NOT informing their recruiters when a board is going to happen? I don't understand the logic there...
Remember the majority of folks don't know about Air Warriors. So they aren't hearing all this back and forth about yes board, no board, only fleet NFO applicants, my OR said this, my OR said that, blah blah blah. It's just get your application in when you can and wait for the next board. These boards are rolling and happen all the time, there shouldn't be an issue waiting about 3 months for the next board unless you are age critical. Stay focused on everyday life, work hard, hit the gym, continue to strengthen your application. Another board will come and things will fall into place when they are intended to. This is my second attempt, I've learned to be more patient this time around, if it's meant to be it's meant to be.

If you think this is frustrating wait till you get in, it's way worst. Patience May/June will be here soon.An additional 3 months is a long time to wait after your recruiter told you that you would most likely make the Nov/Dec board, and then the Jan/Feb board...I think the whole process is just frustrating because the amount of work that goes into making your application "board ready" (MEPS, statements, forms, etc.) could be completed in a few days but the military process draws it out to a couple months.
