Nfo/sna

I just took the ASTB today and got a 6/6/7/54 My question is this: Since my NFO number is higher than my SNA does that mean if I apply for PLC air I will probably get NFO?

If so I will probably go ground.

Thanks

Sounds like someone's a control freak. :-P

lol more than a little...

Sorry to the NFOs if I sounded harsh, it wasn't ment in that manner at all. I simply eithor want to fly the plane or pull the triger on the ground.

Yeah control freak seems fair :)

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm an incoming freshman this fall. My PFT is around 250, it should be in the 260-270 range by the time I apply.

So if and when I apply for PLC air, do I specify SNA or NFO, or is it chosen for me? Also can I apply for air and if I get NFO change to ground without any ramifications (sp?) ie getting last MOS choice at TBS?

You apply for what you want or you can apply to all three air, nfo or ground. If you want to fly then apply for only sna, if you want sna or ground apply for both. They will not neglect your sna choice just because your FOFAR is higer.

I'm not sure how it works for PLC but for OCC when i applied i signed contracts and sent it packets for all 3....so yes you can choose to apply to just one, or all three. I gotta tell you though applying for all three looks better and helps your chances b/c when the board looks at your packet and sees your applying for all three you've made it clear you want to be a Marine over anything else.

Don't bust his chops too much. This is what I had on my selection list from USNA:

1. Marine Pilot
2. Marine Ground
3. Marine NFO
4. Navy Pilot
5. Navy NFO
6. SWO (it's required).

I put ground ahead of NFO because if I couldn't be a pilot, I wanted to be a tanker. Plain and simple. But, it all worked out in the long run!!

They only let us put one Marine option on our USNA service selection... (Marine NFO was 3rd on my list, SWO 5th, right after subs)

The board won't look at my package and see SNA and ground and just give me ground becase I listed it?

Also I'm still wondering if there are ramifications for droping an air contract for a ground one before OCS.

Thanks

Why only one Marine option? I wanted Marines, and nothing but Marines and could express that with three Marine options...

Other than some of your classmates ribbing you, asking you "what the fuck were you thinking." Nothing.

I considered it, but I'm glad I didn't.

The ground contract is more competitive than you think, if you apply for air and ground they don't simply hand you ground b/c its in your application. They're both extremely competitive and it also comes down once again to timing and the needs. Your also going to rank which one you want first, second, and third, which they take into account.

They told us that the Marines would look at us for one option, and decided if they thought we should be Marines... then figure out if we'd get SNA, SNFO, or ground.

So if some kid put USMC Pilot, and the board thought he'd be a good Marine, but not so much a pilot, they'd offer him ground or NFO...

Kinda convoluted, but that's what they told us.
