I have always thought that was cool-aid. If you want to be a Marine Pilot, and only a Marine Pilot, only apply for Marine Pilot.

Guess what? In flight school (for better or worse) there are plenty of guys who are only Marines because that is who would give them a pilot contract. I wasn't one of them, FYI, but there are plenty out there.

I only applied for Marine Pilot. I got in just fine. As did a lot of my friends. As did a lot of my friends who are only Marines (vs. Navy or AF) because this is where they could fly as a pilot.

If you have the stats to get in they aren't going to say, "Well, he is an awesome candidate, but not a team player becasue he doesn't want to be a grunt or a FO."

If it were me on the board I would think, "Now here is a young man who knows what he wants, and will probably really excel in this field."

But hey, opinions are like ..............

True - and here is mine. I think that the possibility exists for them to say no, for the sole reason that Marine pilots do tours in the grunts. If he's adamant against the grunts, then he might not fit in the Marines...
