I would call it moderately tough to get in if you are competitive for any ROTC programs you will get in. Not sure about study abroad, why the hell would you want to go to St Cyr? If youre going to study abroad have fun and dont get tainted by French defeatism got to a normal university. Living there is barracks life it is very nice to get out and visit normal colleges. I met some great friends there and learned a lot that probably set me up for where I am now but it wasnt easy

If you are looking to comission in the Navy and get a scholarship, then you should have a good shot at VMI. The Navy unit there is rather small, so they are always looking for more people. If you get an NROTC scholarship, your pretty much guaranteed acceptance into VMI. Since your major focuses on IS VMI would be a great place. Especially with professors like General Zinny, General Farrell, etc. Col. Dabney even lectures and teaches there regularly. (Chesty Pullers Son-in-law)

VMI does have good study abroad programs, mostly with spots at Oxford. Alot of people go to Spain and Japan also. As far as living there, its Barracks life. It will suck, but you will make the best friends ever and everything afterwards is like one big vacation. The best way I can sum up VMI is that "Its the coolest thing I would never do again." ;) With everything combined I would say its probably the hardest school in the country. But well worth it. If you think you would like to apply or anything let me know and I can answer any questions you want.

I have several reasons for wanting to go to saint-cyr. I I am French, and therefore French things fasinate me. II The French are rather unprdictible, and I would like to learn more about them. III I have an inborn tencancy to want to learn as much as I can. IV I have a friend that just graduated from West Point and he spoke very highly of his time there.

The Citadel

Also you should look into The Citadel. If you want a military college and a commission. I can answer any questions you may have. Good luck with your decision.

Well, I will tell you what, pretty small campus. I mean can't lie here, it seems when you drive up to there, I am from East Hartford Connecticut, I thought Hartford as a city was small... But it is very close nit up there, small, homie feeling, for me atleast. Gorgeous moutains, but they are alot of them and not to many people running around :)

Clean campus, no drinking. Not to much time to have a side job off campus, it is a packed schedule. I went on a guided tour, was great, best thing you can do. The Cadet I had walk me around was a no BS guy, gave me the low down. Rook-dom is not easy, their Engineering program is becoming VERY competitive, spoke to the head Engineering man myself...

What I would say, (What I am going to do) is go visit a rook, stay over for a night during fall, this was recommended to me, call ther admissions office during fall and set it up. The hardest of the hard comes from rook-dom, and you might as well witness what you are getting yourself into.

All in all, I would apply to other places, but Norwich is what I like, all about what you are going to be comfortable in.

Edit- Also... just a little bit here, uh don't screw up up there either, you face a tribunal of your peers for any infractions... and they recommend disciplinary actions to the head guys... :)
