I was talking about your PRT/PFT marks. So you averaged 7 min miles for 3 miles after "having not ran or anything in a good while... ?" Also, 20 pull-ups and 98 crunches is very high for the same reason. Maybe you could do that, maybe you were a cross-country star in HS and worked on pull-ups and crunches your whole adult-life, and then took "a good while" off and were still able to get those scores: it's just difficult to believe. As for cutting 3 more minutes from a 21 min 3 mile, that will be difficult to say the least.

Hmm.. That’s kinda different from what they were saying.. They were kinda poking fun at me because I couldn’t get the 100 crunches, which according to them, is suppose to be a give me... As far as pull-ups I have a bar in my room and do a couple every time I walk under it but I haven’t strength trained in a while.. I have always been a decent runner... We have a track at school but I don’t get out there as often as I should.

Sorry if it came off I was trying to sound macho or something that was not my intention... Instead of saying “I haven’t ran or anything in a good while” I should have probably said I don’t run or workout near as much as I should or used to. I am just an average 160lb kid trying to give myself the best chances of getting into flight school. I just wanted to know if it was normal for a recruiter to not give a PRT before applying and if I should ask for one.

edit: I did the same thing (Posted as you edited).. I am also applying for SNA. Ill try to find someone to give it to me.. Thanks.

Grant Davis: I think you'll make the November boards. What are the rest of your stats (besides your future-ASTB scores)? Are you applying Navy or Marines?

So we don't have anyone else here for the November boards? Packages are due in about a week and it seems like we've got less people than usual.

And here's a little tidbit, our board meets in 26 days. Nothing like counting to make it go by even slower.

Hey I don't think I will be able to make the Nov. boards, is there a December board? If so I think that will be the one I will be up for.

My stats are:
5/6/5 47
24 years old
Going for pilot
2.76 GPA in Criminal Justice with Minor in Private pilot
115 flight hours with 19 simulator hours
private pilot license-single engine land
Award for HS football, 2nd team all conference
Job: Police officer
Awards: 3 letters of commendation, Distinguished Service medal
LORs: army Col (ret), army Major (ret), 0-5 AF pilot (ret)

My GPA and ASTB are low, cant do much for the GPA but I am retaking the test in the middle of Nov. which is why I couldn't make this board. MY OR says I need at least a 50 with my GPA, anyone disagree?

Couldn't agree more... That was the first thing that came to my mind about your ASTB score. What material are you using to study? There is some really good gouge on here about ASTB prep materials.

December board, couldn't tell you, but from what I have read on other threads and its proximity to two major holidays, I wouldn't count on it. Why do you want to transfer from law enforcement to military? I know you are under paid and under appreciated, and people only like you when they need you, but I have the highest respect for police officers due to the crap they have to take, so I would like to say thank you for protecting our countrys citizens. Best of luck with the boards!

I am using an asvab book, flying handbooks, and the test gouge here. its the math sections that are killing me. I knew I had not studied enough for it but I figured I would take it and learn what to study next.

I have always been a military man but had a family early so I decided to try the cop thing and be around for the fam, but now I think its better for everyone to get into the military.

I have always wanted to fly and being a cop is getting to me a little more than I thought it would. There are too many dipsh#$s out there and I am letting them get to me, I am fine with not being liked, its more the people that like us too much that bother me, I like to laugh at the moroons that talk crap too us. I just see first hand how much our hands are tied when trying to do this work. I understand why we have the restrictions though. I have seen the immigration problem close up and see how much we money and time we spend on the illegals drinking and driving and acting like this is Mexico where they don't have laws like we do.

It may just be the town that I work in but I could see it being the same or worse wherever I would work.

I still could not do a desk job but im thinking its either military or get over my problems in this job.

I appreciate the thanks though.

I changed my application to only SNA. I'm going on a trip next week, and I will not be able to retake my ASTB by the board meeting. So if they decide to take me as is (highly highly doubtful) then great. If not, I should have higher ASTB and PFT for next time. If that still isn't enough I will have INTEL/SWO as backups. Good luck to all!

Applying CEC

I was a Navy brat for most of my life, went to work in the private sector and now I'm missing the lifestyle big time. Every two or three years I'm ready to move (which does wonders for job security).

My application should go before the November board. Stats:

28 years old
Applying for CEC only
3.86 GPA with a Bachelor of Architecture
LORs: 2 MCPOs (both retired - one Crypto and one Seabee), Supply Corps 0-5 (retired), 2 former employers
Activities: HS volleyball, college intramural soccer, tons of clubs and honor societies, Habitat for Humanity

After being a couch potato for 5 years after college I managed to whip myself into the very beginnings of physical fitness again and squeaked by on my PRT with 55 su, 51 pu, and a 12:35 run time. Nothing to be proud of but the numbers are improving every week. MEPS is done so I'm just waiting to hear from the board.

Best of luck to everyone else in the pipeline.

Lose the ASVAB book, the math is not that simple, though it is still pretty easy stuff.. I would get the ARCO book, it has sample tests and is really good. The Marine ASTB gouge is pretty decent for what questions to expect, but you have already taken it so I guess you are set.

There are going to be dipshits in the Navy too... they are called Pilots.... haha. Im kidding everyone, so please don't give me an infractions for my sarcasm.

MTC, what were your ASTB results like?

I'm a third class Aviation Electronics Technician (AT3) with just over a year in, and I was wondering if my scores are competitive. This was my first attempt and I'm still trying to get my package ready, but want to submit it A.S.A.P. since I'm nearing 27. Also, is there anything else I can do to boost my chances.

Applying for Naval Aviator / NFO

26 Male
ASTB: 6/7/6/56
ASVAB:95
PRT: 80/80/10:30
GPA: 3.01 from U of M (Ole Miss) in '05
Degree: Bachelor of Fine Arts
College Editorial Cartoonist for 2 years
LOR: Should be able to get a LDO 0-4, and maybe an active 0-8 if super lucky.

I was never very athletic; but only from a lack of interest not ability.

I don't know about Officer Marines, but while I was in A-School we were required to train with Enlisted Marines. My scores are complete garbage now as compared to what they were then, although they're good enough for the Navy PRT. I'm not trying to put down my own branch of service by any means, but the Marines are no joke. They want 100 crunches, 20 pull-ups, and a 18 min. 3 mile and they'll get it from you too. Navy PRT scores are nowhere near as strenuous. You are not miss informed.

P.S. I'm just a 150 lbs guy trying to get back in shape too. My 80 push-ups/ 80 sit-ups/ and 10:30 mile and a half need to get better. My goal is 100/100/ 9:00 before OCS.
