November 2010 Board

Anyone know if you can change designators when you rock the resubmit? I didn't put down SNA this board (although that is what I really wanted) because I didn't want to incur the six month wait (I will need to get PRK if I put it down).

Also, is there a time limit between getting pro'rec and final select? If I were to get PRK in January, I would not be able to get a waiver until July even though the board is in April. Any issues there? Could you even get PRK after a pro'rec?

Crazy Carl, it sounds like this is your plan, right?

Then my OR isn't tracking that. The only programs from here I can apply for are supply or Intel, either of which involve putting steel on meat. Intel would be alright but it's VERY hard to get into from what my OR said, even with my TS-SCI. What's the kicker is that the next board is April 15th, when I turn 31.

You can do AMDO as well... Yea... I would get on it then... ;)

I've been asking this same question to myself, believe me, how they score the test is a mystery to me. If this counts for anything, I wouldn't be surprised if I got a perfect score on the Math section, but I probably missed some on Mechanical and maybe a couple on Reading Comprehension.

But, our scores don't matter now because we got in! Now it's time to go to MEPS and handle business at OCS.

I wonder if the OAR isn't the combination of particular questions of the test that are very similar amongst all three versions. Where as the first three scores are just a total number of right and wrong for each section and however they do their formula for having the averages they want. That is the only conceivable way I can think that people could have such similar first three scores and such variance on the OAR.

I applied as SNA knowing I would need PRK. I originally was only applying for NFO because of my vision, but my recruiter asked me why I wasn't applying for SNA. I told him my vision reason and he said that's ok, apply first for SNA if I am interested, then go get PRK. I want to make sure I got in before I undergo this procedure. I will fail the eye portion at MEPS, get PRK soon, and apply for the waiver in 6 months. Then its just like everyone else.

Also, I don't know where everyone is getting this professionally recommended term. My recruiter never mentioned it to me. He said I was selected. Is this what its known as in this early phase, or are the two different?

Pro'rec and "getting selected" are one and the same. No need to worry.

You are mistaken. Pro-Rec means professionally recommended. You still have a physical and need to do some paperwork, such as background check or NASIS, to receive a FS. Selected means you have received a Final Select (FS).

Crazy*Carl you are currently Pro-Rec'd. In a month or two hopefully you will receive a FS with a OCS class date. Once you receive a FS you will swear in and do more stuff. Bascially you have just jumped over 1 hurdle so standby and have fun!

I realize that there is a difference between pro'rec and final select. However, in Crazy Carl's case, when his OR is telling him that he "has been selected" he is really saying that he has been pro'recced. That is all I was trying to say.

I think perseverance is what paid off for me, more than anything else. See y'all up there. Hang in there if you didn't get picked. Anybody can be desperate once, but if you show up the second time, they see that you're truly interested.

I was amazed how many people I was at OCS with had to apply more than once to be accepted (myself included). Just one leg of the adventure.

I still haven't heard. Bad sign?

You're not alone. I have still yet to hear any news as well. No news is better than bad news i suppose. I called my processor yesterday and he said that he doesn't have the results of the Nov. SNA board but will let me know as soon as he does. Funny though because most people on AW have heard something by now. Are you applying SNA as well?

Hopefully the OR's are busy. Mine didn't call last week because he didn't want to ruin my holiday weekend. :-P
