Speaking for yourself much?

I wouldn't put all your hopes on the minority card to make the cut.
Like both recruiters have said, make the best possible package you can present. Change the things you have control over to make your package as strong as possible...like OAR score. IDC is very competitive through the OCS route so do all you can to submit the strongest possible package; otherwise, you are just wasting your time.
Thank you... However, for continuity purposes my initial response to this thread was in reference to another potential candidate. By no means am I for an iota of a second "putting my hopes on the minority card to make the cut." What I am banking on to make the cut is my 9 years of AD service as an Electronics Technician in our Navy with a technical degree in Computer Information Systems, strong appraisal sheets 1131/5, strong CO's recommendation, current TS-SCI clearance, and Joint Service Transcript. Hence, making the strongest possible package and not to waste anyone's time.I wouldn't put all your hopes on the minority card to make the cut.

My stats are below, however allow me to ask you a question regarding the CS2 you spoke of. Not to frown upon the CS rate, but when you have your Bachelors and Masters degrees why consider joining the enlisted ranks as a CS? A technical rate seems more conducive for someone with 17-18K under there belt. Just a thought...I wish you the best.
What was your cumulative GPA? Do you have your ESWS pin? EAWS? How many competitively ranked EP EVALS do you have? Sailor of the Quarter/Year? How many personal awards do you have? What is your OAR score? Any. NJPs?
Why do I ask? I had a CS2 that had her Bachelors and Masters and was applying for OCS. She had served 3 years but was not a top performer...she was an average sailor. She did not get selected.
So, it's the whole package....not just a checklist. BTW, COs recommendation is a requirement, but words have meanings in the recommendation and COs know how to write to send the board a message.
My questions are not to call you out but to help you make an HONEST assessment of your chances. Remember the selection board is looking at so many variables and ranking each candidate against a standard. If you are average, you may not make the cut.
Competition is fierce so be prepared and offer the best package you can the FIRST TIME.
It's a very competitive package... best of luck from a fellow "Tweety"!What I am banking on to make the cut is my 9 years of AD service as an Electronics Technician in our Navy with a technical degree in Computer Information Systems, strong appraisal sheets 1131/5, strong CO's recommendation, current TS-SCI clearance, and Joint Service Transcript.

I copy all... My OCS package was submitted October 17th for the upcoming IDC board scheduled to convene December 2nd. So my fingers are crossed... Hoping for the best yet preparing for the worst. Thank you for your concern...
Ok, I have 7 years IT experience working for the State of Colorado at a University.
But anyhow my recruiter is trying to push for me to go Navy reserve and stated that I would probably have any easier chance to get into OCS via that route.
The whole reserve to active duty back door as he called it sounds really back words to me, is he looking to fill a quota ?
Any advice ?
Is he trying to get you to go enlisted reserve?
Nope, he's trying to put me in as an officer in the reserves.
I have no idea why he would think that would be easier, reserve IDC is even more competitive, there are people here that have been trying for years to get into reserve IDC that have certificates left and right dealing with IT and they still aren't in, to be honest it sounds like your OR is inept.
