Hi there. Does anyone know a) how many USN OCS classes pick up per year? Are people with an air contract all assigned to the same OCS, or are the folks on air contracts mixed in with everyone else? Finally, if someone applies for OCS and gets accepted, how long until he/she learns his assigned start/graduation date? Sorry for so many questions. My friend's son is hoping to access in the Navy via OCS, and while I served as a USMC enlisted recruiter many (many) years ago, I don't know the answers to any of these questions. Thanks in advance for any help.

There’s classes around every 3 weeks, it’s a mix of all different designators each class. Timeline to OCS really just depends, I’ve found it’s usually a few months for most people, but could be shorter, could be longer, no way to know.

1) Going based off the class numbers, I think there are 17 classes per year; I graduated with 02-24 but the last -23 class before us was 17-23.

2) Aviation candidates are mixed in with the other designators. There used to be a separate AOCS in Pensacola, but that ended years ago.

3) This ties in with the last question, but start date varies greatly. I was originally supposed to ship in July of 2023, but my recruiter managed to get me a spot in May. Some people I talked to said they found out they got selected for an aviation slot and had to leave in a few weeks. There's no good way of determining this.
