Oh yeah, body wash is key, because if you drop the soap...just let it go man, it's gone.

Also good advice if you ever find yourself in prison.

You don't have to worry about being the only female in the class. There will be at least 2 in each class and we get separate bathrooms and sleeping area- I believe its by wing.

This is incorrect. There is no guarantee you will have multiple females in your class, though if your class is larger statistically you have better odds. Sleeping areas are not divided by wing.

I've also heard that if you work hard and don't take everything personal, you'll get the respect you deserve. I'm assuming/hoping this is true.

You're still going to have a rough time, but less of a rough time than any candidate who doesn't work hard or take stuff personally.

I am a female, went through OCS, prior Navy 8 yrs, VP of my class and YES you do get picked on no matter what people tell ya. Of course the guys will say otherwise because they didn't stand out as much ya know? I am not one of those nail breaking wusses out there in fact I was doing more pushups than most of the guys. The DI's will mess with you. They will try to break you down mentally because they know it bothers you. They will push your buttons. You can handle it. I thought I could compare boot camp to OCS, but to tell you the truth....there is no comparison. It is much more if anything. You will be pushed mentally and physically.
It is possible to be the only female. Seen it. We had 3 to begin with and 2 more rolled into my class. You get separate heads and sleep in a separate compartment when you first get there. You get the same amount of time as the guys to do to get ready, just more room to do it in. And using the head breaks is nice cuz you only have to wait a min or two not 3 guys to a pisser. If you have any questions ask me, PM me. I will let you in on the girly things. Good luck!

Oh c'mon Kacey...That's just cause all of the DI's hated you :icon_lol:
you know I'm kidding :) Best of luck in Oceana!

Jetgirlflyer can steer you best, but purely from a guys perspective I think 3 of the 5 girls in our class didn't get any extra attention (jetgirlflyer not being one of them). However, one of our girls got a tons of special treatment, no matter what she did she had a rough time. But we had plenty of guys that had a rough time too. Some people fly under the radar, and some people do things to constantly draw attention to themselves.

I know there isn't rifle drill anymore, but if you drew the short straw and were in the front row, you got plenty of attention. The one time we were reversed, none of us who were usually in front got called out...what a shocker.

When did this happen? I just commissioned Apr 2005, and I probably spent 50% of my time marching around with that hunk of metal. That changes OCS more than a little. Plus, how do you guys peform the commissioning ceremony?

No more GRINDER? WTF?

Easy...Rifle drill is back. Only one class, maybe two, missed it. The CO missed it enough that it was brought back in pretty short order. Back to the theme of this thread. Miss, you'd better go to OCS prepared to take some major loads of crap. I know of at least two DIs who were there within the last six months who did indeed deliberately single out females for "special attention." Their reasoning: they believed that if you went out to the fleet and your division "soft" and/or "feminine" that there would be guys trying to walk all over you. So be ready. Also, you may indeed be the only female in your class. One class while I was there started out with three female candidates. Check-in was on Sunday, on Monday one of them DOR'd, and on Tuesday one failed the in-PRT. The third was flying solo from then on out.

Ah yes....rifle is back just watched a drill comp couple weeks ago. It was great, got to talk to some of the DI's like a normal person, best thing was....they had to salute me....lol! Ah yes.....to Puck..."Turrrrnnneeerrrr!"

I am still stash...start school in a couple weeks, then go to Oceana....Supers...yeah baby!!!!!

Anyone know where I can find a link to the picture online? I found the article, but it was without the picture, which is the only thing that makes it more funny than your typical Approach article ("It was a good-deal cross country...").

That's just bad gouge. Your recruiter might have told you that, but your recruiter doesn't make the classes.

Nope...not from a recruiter. That's what they said at OCS when it was down to two girls and they told them that there has to be two girls in a class. So they either both roll or both stay.
