OCS Status FY 13

Your initial post said that FY13 quota for SWO ED was 3. Do you have any idea of when the board would be held if this hasn't changed?

It is a rolling board, that means the applications are looked at and picked/rejected as needed, so there could have been ones submitted last week that could fill the quota, but probably not and the reason is they look at engineering degrees (ME, EE, CE) and physical science degrees (Chem/Phys) only, not Mech Eng Tech degrees and such so it takes a bit longer to fill the billets.

They met in April, the deadline was March. Since your application arrived after the deadline it would have been archived. The next board should be in April 2013.

They usually select about 3-5 per FY for each, since you aren't in an CT/IS/IT rate your transcripts will be looked at hard for the year of calc and calc based physics.

Is there any way to predict within a month or two what the OCS class date for a specific community would be? For example, I can't go to OCS before January (don't get my degree until December), but it sounded like FY13 spots were really filling up. It seems logical to me that this would cause my class date to be later into 2013, perhaps April or May? I was pro rec for NFO from the July board. Thanks for any insight!

Status from email read to me today.

They WILL have a SWO options board in October, they need a few more, very few. This will probably close out FY13 and some of FY14.

There are no other active boards in 1st quarter FY13, and any other boards from 2nd quarter FY13 on are listed now as TBD (to be determined)

You're referring to all boards, not just SWO options? So that means no SNA/SNFO/SWO until sometime late in 2013 potentially?

I am recently engaged, and we are trying to plan a wedding date for next year. I have absolutely no idea when I'll be going to OCS though. I do not mind moving the wedding date around OCS but once its set... its set. Anyone know about when I should expect to be going to OCS?

My PQ is in the works, and already sent off my security clearance (again).

SWO options IS SWO IP and SWO IW and sometimes SWO Oceano, it looks like they need 1 more per each to make goal, but they will probably pick 3 each to be safe, or they could pick a lot more and screw over the boards for FY14.

I called the NRD and the board schedule that came out a few days ago is already out of date, it has been revised via email, but it appears not all NRD's are pushing the emails or the info in the emails to the recruiters in the field.

Does that mean the SWO options board for October will not meet? Where can we find the schedule for all officer boards and do they actually put the shedule out to the fleet?

Conflicting info on the SWO options board, I would say if you have a tech degree submit and see what happens.

They do not put it out to the fleet, and the schedule doesn't look anything like what was put out now so it is useless.
