Oct 2013 IDC/SWO-IDC Options Board

The numbers that were picked during the current board will determine how many more boards they need, it is fairly common for small designators to schedule then cancel boards, more so with IDC, be prepared to submit, but be aware they do cancel boards.

In addition remember that in order to submit within 6 months of being turned down you have to have something significant change in your application.

Nov 4 per the conversation I had with Fleet Processor. I am submitting for that one also, and if not selected than a reconsideration package for Feb. Very determined!!!
Good, keep pounding on that door... using whatever time available to try to improve (what can possibly be improved), in your next package submission. You are correct, it's hard to know exactly how each board values each area in a package. Just make it better if you possibly can, you certainly appear qualified.:)

Congrats to everyone who was selected, for those of you who were not keep at it. I had all but given up on this and as fate would have it I was selected.

Question for those of you who have been here before, estimated time on FS letter? ( I am assuming NRC does checks and balances prior to issuing this to the command)

When a person apply for SWO-IW and IW, does the IW community look at IW and SWO-IW? Or does the SWO community talk to the IDC community about the IDC-option candidate?

The SWO community doesn't get a say, it is all the IDC community because you are ultimately going into their community.

Good Job, especially since it was your second time.

This is what I mean by AD in tech field is a wild card
Thank you!! I am very grateful to be a wildcard!! So the questions of the year.... Have you seen many AD get denied from the Medical process and lose their PRO REC? How long should it take to get orders or final select letter? Thank you for your time.

I agree. I not only took a full course load (15 credits min) on top of my fraternity, work and community service/volunteering. To say that you had it "harder" is really a slap in the face of most student that take out loans and work just to buy meals and books whole also studying and strengthening their résumé by offering their time to help their community.

Mr. "foolish statement azguy"......perhaps you should comprehend prior to posting. First of all, if you earn a degree while remaining on active duty (juggling a deploying career, family and college) takes a heck of a lot more dedication and time management than just going to college and earning a degree. Who can't comprehend that?....... besides you? Where in the world did you come up with a Criminal Justice degree from AMU? If you re-read my post, which you should seriously consider before posting anywhere to anyone, My Master's Degree is in National Security from AMU (which by the way has some of the most prestigious faculty in the world, i.e...NASA Astronauts, Retired military personnel). So until you're proven, don't judge someone that starts a sentence with I would say. I didn't ask what you thought.
No offense but never heard of "Crim J" being demanding and time consuming.

I can't speak for all the IDC designators, but the intel board over a year ago accepted 30 of 900 of the intel applicants. Bit of a crap shoot trying to figure out why you weren't accepted. Don't beat yourselves up.

Agreed, I worked three jobs and took 16-18 credits while also volunteering my time; that was anything but easy to do, kind of insulting that people think college is just a breeze.

From reading other posts I gather it takes about a month for final select?

I was wondering where the process goes from here too. I was told it takes about a month to get final select. I was also told AD are pretty safe. You should have your medical already and most of us have the clearance already too. Part of me wants this process to go really quick so I can get OCS behind me. The other half hopes its takes some time because I can't imagine Rhode Island in the winter is very pleasant.

compared to the number of non AD it is very few, most of those wanted aviation and were found not fit for aviation duty.

How does SWO-IP works after OCS? I mean do I stay SWO? or do a lateral transfer after being a SWO? Thanks.

I am sure there are a few others that can give a better description, but from my past briefs a SWO IP goes to a ship, qualifies SWO, then paperwork is submitted notifying of your qualification, then your designator is changed and you receive orders for your IP duty, it is not considered a lateral transfer as you have already been accepted by the IP community.

Based on my experience on sea duty, I worked around 2 officers that were SWO-IW and they need to complete 2 DIVO tours at sea, then they are eligible to become IW officers. I can only assume it is the same way with SWO-IP.
