a 9/9/9 80 is the best possible score on the astb right?

what is considered competitive? and will your score stay with you all through flight school?....what i mean is will it affect whether you get your choice of jets, helos etc?
Negative. A competitive score is 10/10/10/100. And if you don't at least get a 90 on the ASTB vice 80, you might as well consider yourself a rotorhead, cause jets are reserved only for the elite, the best of the best, of all ASTB takers.

Steve, what ASTB score did you get to become a SWO? :D

Kick, ASTB scores have no bearing on anything once you are in flight school.

stupid question, but my oso should have my x/y/z score for my ASTB in my personal file, right? I dont even know my score, all i know is i did exceptional... or at least that is my current belief, lol

I dont see why ASTB score would haunt you in what you fly... because, from my understanding, you get about 1000000000000 evaluations between Commissioning and actually being assigned an aircraft... which factor into the final equation... correct me if I'm wrong... Id rather be wrong and know it than to believe I'm right and ignorant...

My statement above about the 10/10/10/100 is sarcastic. What you get on your ASTB is of no consequence to the NSS you EARN in flight school. It's the NSS that matters re: jets, props, helos, E-6, not your ASTB score.

After my package was accepted, the ASTB was never heard from again in my 'career'.

thanks for clarification Steve... I think I might have missed the sarcasm in there... Sometimes those pissed of electrons don't convey the message properly. And soemtimes young bucks, like myself, are just plain ignorant to it...

As long as you pass the minimums with the test then you're fine. Once selected for OCS, they dont really matter any more. And no, your 100 word motivational statement won't be looked at when you go to topgun. :)

I realize that you probably won't understand why, but your comment only goes to show how correct my statement could be.

contact this guy... It is the Chicago OSO, chances are he can direct you accordingly UNLESS someone in here has better information

http://www.chicagomarineofficer.com/application.htm
there is a 'contact us' at the top. I dont know the district divisions, but this OSO should be closer than mine. But then again, my OSO goes all the way into Oklahoma in which case, personal message me and ill get you my OSO info. He shut his online site down for some reason
