Just to put it out there, my intel guys are amazing. They work their butts off and I notice it. My intel officer now is leaving and he has brought a ton to our squadron. I believe that the rest of my squadron feels the same way as I do. When it comes down to it, choose your career based on what you can bring to the table and what will make you happiest. Dont make your choice based on what other people think of a community.

I agree with your words. My goal with this thread is to get people talking, find out the differences about INTEL and IW, learn what the pros and cons are of each and just try to get a better understanding of both career fields.

Sometimes, with absence of information, getting thoughts from those who know or have been there, done that is a good way to learn more. I myself have served as an Intel Analyst in the Army, and I rather enjoyed it... What I don't know is what Navy intel is like and how it differs from Navy IW.

Honestly, I don't know any IW types and I doubt if many people here do. As for Intel, it's been done to death in other threads.

Well,

What did you end up going with Burton?
Actually, I went in front of the May IW board and already heard I was not selected. They had like 60 applicants and only 5 slots in may.

I am still waiting to hear about Intel and I still have not heard about my age waiver request. Hopefully Intel will work out... I will let you know!

Did the boards already meet for your package? Do you know why you didnt get selected?
I was told only 5 IW slots for the month of May.
3 of the slots went to current Navy enlisted and
2 slots went to civilians.

I am not sure why I was not one of the two, but I would have to imagine it is because I don't have a physics or math background... I was told that is what they are looking for.... who knows though.
