EXCELLENT!!! "... On March 9, the court held in Parker that "the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms..."

And ... that's what it's all about: the Bill of Rights -- they spell out individual versus corporate rights. D.C. will attempt to keep the status quo, i.e., the ban in place while appealing, but they are gonna lose, in any case.

(... perhaps this thread should be folded into the previous one on the same subject ... ??? MasterB ... any objection???)

Amazing. Hopefully it'll get to the courts soon. I think that the majority of the Justices on the bench right now feel strongly about the individual right. I have a feeling that if it does get accepted for review that Justice Scalia will have some strong influence on this case.

Just my opinion, but this has been a loooooong time coming!

Does anyone think that it will go the supreme court...? It would seem that many outside groups would be pressuring D.C. not to let it get there as the outcome seems pretty cut and dry at this time...

NOTHING is cut & dry in politics.. And if you think the USSC is not a political body, think about it.

Anyway, the extreme Brady-ites probably want it to go to the SC and get some sort of anti-gun ruling out of the supremes, to get a lot of draconian things passed. Remember, the speaker of the house, if she had the ability, would like frew things more..

Basically, the brady-ites are likey viewing this a chance to "go for the juggular" so to say.. Small chance of scucess, but very low risk to them.

Pro-Freedom types, odds are, this can be a VERY GOOD thing, but the stakes are high if the Supreme Court gives some sort of wacky ruling.

Basically, the odds are in our (pro-gun people) favor, but the stakes are high if we lose. How bad it could be would range from "preserve status quo" to "the second amendment applies only to militias".

It would be definite victory if we prevail, however.

For the Anti's, it woudl be nothing but a speedbump to them, and they would twist whatever comes out to try to use it to their advantage. The have a low-risk, high reward, low odds situation..

Well, yes, think it must go. Here dupe of post on subject;

There is a very interesting article in the May 2007 issue of “American Hunter” magazine. In the article, Author Chris Cox, NRA-ILA Exec Director, provides what I think is a very insightful analysis of the ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals, that inter alia, the Second Amendment does in fact confer rights of individuals to own and carry firearms.

Of course the fight is not over. Clearly, IMHO, it is headed for the SCOTUS, in due time. Fast tracked it could get there by late 2007 and heard by mid-2008, before the National elections. Opponents of the ruling favor a much slower progress.

Write to your elected representatives early and often, for or opposed, make your views known
