parking tickets

Before people jump on him for being dishonest. I can pretty much guarentee his reason for asking was because in various forms they ask "do you have a police record". Which is somewhat of an open ended question, I am sure they mean do you have any convictions present/past... but I am sure he is sitting there thinking, ok well I got a couple parking tickets, does that now mean I have a record?

The answer, is no. I'd say the minimum basis for a criminal record probably involves a trip to court. I can't think of anything that you could do that would involve a 'record' that wouldn't require a trip to court.

I can.. And it requires a trip to court to not be treated like a convicted felon for life. But you don't have to go, and it can be meted out without you even in the country or you knowledge.

What is it? False (in my case) domestic violence accusations. You won't be arrested. You won't be arraigned.

You will be essentialy a convicted felon until you go to court, spend money out your rear and fight it.

I have a quite distinguished speed award from the Jacksonville Sherrif's Office. 105 in a 65, and I BEAT IT!
I got a 65 in a 35 when I was an instructor at Dam Neck, VA. I asked for an extended hearing because I told them the evidence I had to back my innocence would take longer then the normal 5 - 10 minutes given a speeding ticket. Since it was a pretty high number over the limit, they granted my request. When my court date rolled around, I brought my OSCS radar instructor with me and he proceeded to give what would have been a 2 hour lecture on doppler radar theory, training, calibration and maintenance. The lecture was to prove that the cop's radar gun could not have possible picked one target out of a pack especially with the way cops handle/treat their radar guns and the training cops receive.

The Judge got really pissed off about 15 minutes into the lecture saying I was probably guilty as hell but had the means to waste taxpayer/military time and money to beat the wrap. He said if I was a real man, I would have just admitted guilt, assumed responsibility and paid the fine. Did I have any questions? "Yes your honor, I did nothing wrong and I'm just trying to demonstrate that the police officer was mistaken. Should my expert witness continue his presentation now?" NO, DISMISSED, GET OUT OF HERE!

That Senior Chief never bought a beer on Friday afternoon for the rest of the time I was at Dam Neck.

Oh, this could have been posted in the "Saving the O'Clubs" thread too. It was at the Oceana bar on a Wednesday stripper night that the JAG officer I was friends with helped me lay out the strategy over a couple of beers.

That's about the yearly number for people in my neighborhood back at college. In addition to normal city regs, there were 2 signs worth of additional parking rules for every street within 2 blocks of me. Details aside, it was such that if you left your car in any one place for 72 hours, it would be ticketable. Usually less. Considering most of the residents were college students, and we didn't pay for parking, most of us just considered the tickets the same as paying for a parking pass.
