I'm jealous of you all. I don't check in until 01MAY05. Oh well... I guess stash duty is better than standing conning officer onboard USS Anyship.

Scamminhard, you shouldn't be allowed to report in May. You should have to do the one year stash deal like I had to do. Reporting the 1st week of March, woohoo!

It's only fair. Same thing goes for Icewoman, her ass should definitely still be here. Mainly cuz I'm lonely at the unit now.

I'm not reporting any time soon, but from the posts it seems like you guys had a year of stash duty and once you finally do check in, you have to wait a couple months to class up. Why not let you stay at your stash locations? I thought you had to start API in the same fiscal year you graduated? Here's a question for those in the A-pool: Do you see this long stash process and backup carrying over for the new Ensigns in May 05? Any thoughts??

I graduated last May and I have absolutely no desire to remain stashed in Jax any longer. It's hard to explain, but if I were in Pensacola, there would be the feeling of being THERE, and I'd be one step closer to classing up. Since I'm 04, I should class up by May. You'll understand once you graduate. As far as the wait time for you new ensigns, it seems like you ask the same question in several different formats. Yes it will carry over. Yes you will spend time in A-pool and yes you will spend time in C-pool.

Hey Trunk,
Do you know if they have us doing anything this week at all after check in?

Whether they do it for you or not, you need to get your name on a PRT list as soon as you get in as well as the BOLTC list. Once you get these out of the way, you're well on your way to completing the API class up requirements. Other things you can do your first week are sign up for new (black only) name tags and dog tags. You can also sign up for a helmet fit check time. Also sign up for your NOMI physical. That should be enough to keep you occupied for the first couple of weeks.

Guys and gals, it's late, so I'm not going to stand up here for a long time and preach to you. But I do have to say a couple of things after reading the above posts. In response to the question of would you rather be here in A-pool than continue to be stashed at your current locations............ YES!!! People, while in A-pool, you are being paid what should amount to be around $3000 a month to live in Florida and do less work than just about anybody in our entire armed forces. I know that's not what anyone of us signed up to do but the flying will come in due time. Enjoy what amounts to an extended paid vacation. Go fishing, go to the beach, hang out at clubs, PT, whatever floats your boat. Sure, you'll be more than ready to start API, but once you do and you complete API, you'll enjoy either C-pool or the Primary pool that much more because you'll realize how much you miss A-pool during your time in API. Remember, your fellow Ensigns are stuck standing the balls to 4 watch on the bridge of some ship, or stuck at Nuke school till 10 o'clock at night because they're not allowed to take any work home. You should embrace every part of flight school, even the time spent waiting for the next phase. Don't ruin it by pouting about how long you'll have to wait before you start. It won't make the wait any shorter and will probably just make it seem longer. Just my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

And don't be nervous about checking in. They're not going to make you do anything for at least a couple of weeks. But do get signed up for all that stuff lthackston was mentioning.

I got it good

I'm an Air Force navigator trainee down here in P'cola. I didn't do anything the first three-four weeks, just goto Muster and do PT on MWF then goto the beach all the other days or sleep all day. Now I am in NIFT and will be flying out at Milton for the next 45 days. For Air Force there are no stash jobs and not too much waiting around especially for nav's.

Being in A-pool, is fun; for awhile. Drawing a $3K paycheck for doing absolutely nothing is cool, but it gets old. This is especially true when there are guys and gals out there fighting a war while we are living comfortably in Florida. I know we can't do anything to speed things up, but I wish there was something we could be doing in the interim. I've been here eight months and my class up date has been pushed back three times and I have no idea why.

Icewoman...I saw you this morning in A-pool, so it looks like we both got here OK. :icon_mi_1 You talked to me and my friend Renee...I am the quieter one of the two. I thought it might be kind of stupid to be like, "Oh, it's IceWoman!" when I saw you, so I was just wondering if you would figure it out, lol. Anyways, so far the whole A-pool thing is going great, but I agree with Red2, it could definitely get old after awhile. I'm ready to get out there and "accelerate my life"...so to speak.

Well, I saw everyonetoday...of course, I had no idea who was who. So I guess I'll be the one to start listing screen names out loud to meet people! By the way, I was the guy who ran to flight management to find out if we were in the right place today. See y'all tomorrow.
