Im a USNA grad at Corpus in Primary.

I simply dont care cause no one else really does either. If you ask me where Im from I say my home town. Ask me my school its the academy. The only other way to tell is that I have a water bottle with the seal on it that is always in my bag or from my ATJ.

However, I do wear my ring because it helps me focus when im studying. Why? It means something to me. If you still feel disgruntled about academy life send me a private message Ill help you sort it out.

^^ Perfect answer. You'll go far! ;)

The guys who catch the crap are the one's who are always talking about the Academy, and who when they talk they get uppity about USNA versus OCS/other colleges/etc.

I'll gladly tell people I went to the Academy, I'm proud of it and don't care if people know. I don't think I'm any better for going, nor do I think I'm any worse.

Quite honestly, I'm glad I didn't go to OCS because I wouldn't want to deal with the Marine gunnys. That's compared to the juniors who ran Plebe summer, a joke compared to those Marines or my RDC's in boot camp for me.

As the quote goes, "be a dick, get treated like a dick, be cool, get treated cool"

Some academy guys could learn something from this thread... i.e. You went to USNA, good on you, now don't be a dick about it.

As has been echoed, I'll gladly admit to going to USNA.

The guys that are "ring knockers" (regardless of which academy) get as much sh*t from their classmates and fellow alumni as from those that didn't go to an academy, perhaps more. All goes in with not being a Joe after graduation (not that you should ever have been one).

I won't knock my ring except jokingly (and those around me know its a joke when I do), but I do wear it bcause I earned it.

I don't have my ring anymore, got stolen in Pensacola... So I don't do much ring knocking (and even when I did have it, I only wore it in uniform at the USMC Birthday Ball).

I'm proud of the school I attended, but I'm not obnoxious it like some others. As my wife puts it "those dickheads have ruined it for the rest of the good guys"

Still learning how much I don't know.

Half the time I don't even know where my ring is. It's just not that big of a deal. I've noticed that not many people wear their rings, regardless of where they went to school.

The funny part is when people think I went to USNA when I wear my Penn State ring, just because I'm wearing a college ring . . . despite the Nittany Lion logo smack in the middle of the stone . . .:icon_tong
