Seeing as your out PFA at OCS goes with you when you leave, you'd be dumb to do that if you gave two sh!ts about what your record reflects about you, and PT is somewhat of a graded event as well at OCS.

I was not talking about OCS. Everything at OCS is graded and you shouldn't shoot for the minimums. What I was passing on is that in order to get "final select" it does not matter if you are an all star at PT or just barely made the grade. It is a pass/fail... I wouldn't just do the minimum if you can do better. Just don't sweat it if you do not have a lot of time to prepare for the PFT if you got pro'rec. Now, if you are out of shape before you leave for OCS, sucks to be you...

so if pt is graded, and im in ocs as an sna and there would be someone who could do about 5 more situps than i could and run the 1.5 mile run 30 seconds faster than i, would he get my spot in flight school, or would i still be going to flight school. since i was prorec'd as sna, is my spot in api guaranteed as long as i finish ocs?

the reason i ask is that my recruiter told me i had to get "good medium" on all the parts of my prt before i could go to ocs for pilot. i did the "good medium" for pushups (with time to spare), but i missed the situps by 7 (i did 55 instead of 62, ending with "good low"), and because of that, i bailed on the run thinking i had already failed (and it was below 32 degrees and a 15 mph wind blowing at my discouraged self). was i wrong in that? could i have still gotten in to ocs with those scores had i but finished the run in the time i was pacing (WELL below the 12 minute mark)?

if so, now im even more pissed at my recruiter and his ineptness. if i couldnt have gotten in, i am in deep poo in order to get physically fit enough to get INTO ocs, let alone do well enough to keep my spot in flight school.

Yeah...never bail. I don't know when you did this, but on my recent PRT, I was told good low across the board was the cutoff, except I was sweating the run on mine.

so i failed the prt once more with 48 situps. i guess i just didnt have enough fuel in my body that morning. but i retook it today and got 62 situps (with time to spare), 67 pushups (again with time) and 11:15 run. so, i finally passed! third time's a charm, i guess. anyway, now it's time to wait for my docs to get sent in.

my tip, work on those situps, and don't stop at 60. try to do 100 crunches, 50 side situps on each side, 50 leg lifts, and 50 reps of other ab exercises each. then you'll get the needed ab endurance. also, work on pushups. they're easy to get good at if you just do it over and over.

make sure when you are practicing for your push ups and crunches your form is perfect. (or close to it). On the in PFA the DIs will take push ups/crunches away if your form isnt right. Push ups get alot of people. You may be able to do 65 push ups but if you get put back to zero on 39 it will be near impossible to pass.

the recruiters were making me do that kind of form in the prt to begin with, so that was a help. having a guy fresh out of ocs there was good because he knew exactly what the di's look for in the prt and told me how to do it.

that is a great thing. i know many a candidate that was not shown the proper form before coming to ocs, me being one of them. i was just lucky to get enough good form push ups.
