My OR says MEPS is still finishing up paperwork after my visit a month ago.. so I hope everything will be together to apply to this board. I tried to make the August board after I was granted an extension to the last deadline because of a MEPS hold-up out of my control, but I still haven't heard back from my visit. He also claimed it would be easier to get selected at the beginning of the fiscal year but we will see.

Volunteering: Aviation museum
Nervous to submit with these scores but my OR seems to think I should only retake if I'm not selected. I'm working to improve my package but understand I'm not that competitive without a better retest. Any advice?

Look at previous boards, every board I have seen puts together a excel sheet and will give you a good idea where you stand amongst the pack. Also what helped me was flight time(getting private pilots license) and after taking the test once for the air Force preparing and visualizing each section of the test. As for the OAR mine aren't the best either so I am not the best to give advice but there are specific threads for just the OAR. Also it is best to listen to your recruiter and submit for this board. It would be kind of late to retake and make the package deadline.

Based on past boards, you're at the lower end of applicant scores. However, I saw plenty of 50/5/6s accepted in the May board. From what I've heard from other ORs though is that if you miss SNA, you should wait like 6 months or more too apply again. Speaking from the perspective of someone whose journey to OCS could take up to 9 months due to avail. dates, I don't see a reason to rush into what is going to be a long journey. If you think you can improve your scores through a month or two of dedicated study, go for it and apply to the next board.
Also on the 'working to improve your package' bit. SNA/NFO boards don't care about much beyond your ASTB and GPA. So while you might write a killer PS and have LoRs from Senators, odds are the board doesn't look at them (from what ORs have said here).
Have you all heard anything about a random board set for August 21 2018? My recruiter is difficult to deal with, and not the best at communicating so I was just curious if you all knew anything about it? She also said she doesnt know the next board date yet (yet you all do on here) so I am a little confused.

There's a board on the 15th, but applications were due a month and a half ago.
He may be referring to the rolling auto select board, which would be an option if your ASTB is 8/8/8.
Are you submitting for the October 2nd board?
Yes, there is apparently a board convening in September. Prior to the end of the fiscal year.
Where did you hear this from? This is the first I am hearing of it?
Now that I think about it. August 21 is the due date for packages for the October 2 board. You are probably confusing this with an additional board.
My OR said in a meeting a few weeks ago they are convening one last board in September before the end of the FY. That’s all I know
