there is a difference. I remember seeing it listed out on several different forms. It definately be on your orders though. It will either state Pilot or NFO. Make sure you ask. You wont sound like a suspicious jackass. I'm sure your OSO would be glad to point it out if you ask specifically.

On the paper I filled out..it went something like this. PLC Air (Pilot) or PLC Air (NFO) with a check mark box right next to each of them. Then Ground, Law etc...

Ya im figuring there is some sort of catch with PLC. As I research the PLC it seems that many people do not make it to their dream. Injuries seem to prevent people from making it through. Therefore many are forced to transfer from air to ground. This will not stop me from applying. I have huge dreams of making it as a Naval Aviator in the Marines. Its been a calling. As far as looking at other branches, I dont not think it will happen. I love the types of missions the marines perform such as FAC and CAS support missions. I love the way they run shop there. So I will give it my all to make it through the program. Im too motivated to stop. Would many of you consider this a myth about the whole catch with PLC?

My platoon commander at OCS said he didn't like the idea, because it attracts people who just wanted to be pilots.

I don't want to sound like a suspicious jack ass because I really appreciate having this opportunity and I really think he's a great guy, but at the same time I would like to make sure everything is ready to go.

Even if you did sound suspicous... this is your career... don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. I've learned the hard way that sometimes you just have to stick it to your OSO and ask the hard questions... even if that means showing up to their office and giving them sh!t 6/7 days of the week.

Outside of that you should be good to go man... some other candidades and Marines have offered some great words of wisdom here. On my end, I completed OCS and am waiting to head out for TBS... I'd say the Marines (or Navy as they have a similar selection process) is probably your best bet for getting Air.. With the Chair Force, for example... you don't find out until your senior year if you contracted or not... and everyone and their brother is competing for it (with about 4 different things that factor into your PIQ) ....so thats that ...Aside from that, like Lonestar, make sure you have the right mindset about getting a section or FAC duty etc...... you gotta be prepared for that. Just stay safe, don't go skiing off of K2, and avoid those 29 palms girls that say they're 18...should be fine. :icon_smil
