Let me explain my situation im a high school senior, in the state of Maryland, aplying to colleges. UMD is a hard school to get into as a freshmen, I proably wont get in. A lot of kids do 2ys of community college then transfer into UMD for the last 2ys. I could go to a different school elsewhere to a 4y school but there's a twist I want to stay in my area to volunteer as a firefighter while attending school.
Could I do the freshman/sophomore PLC while at community college? I did some research but all i could find was "be pursuing a degree from an accredited 4y university" I guess I might be considered as pursing
 
I went to a Community College for 2 years, Went to PLC Jrs after my 2nd year, when I got back from Jrs I transfered to UCSB.
 
the PLC program is a program within the Marine Corps OCS, it is 2X6 week sessions, the 1st Session is PLC Jrs, and the 2nd session is PLC Srs. You can also do PLC-C or OCC, those two are ten weeks each.

Back to the question, there is an avenue to pursue PLC through a community college. A friend of mine left Iowa State for DuPage (which apparently (his words, not mine) is the Harvard of community colleges) He went to DuPage for a while before transferring so an Illinois university. While still at DuPage he went through the first increment of OCS. I'm not sure if it was before or after going to or being accepted to the 4-year school. It's something you would have to speak with an officer recruiter about.
 
Dunno if this is a cogent point, but there are volunteer firefighters just about everywhere. If that is your primary reason for not applying for other schools you might have a better chance of getting into, then I would say you might be limiting yourself unnecessarily.

Another option I would recommend would be to get out your local phone book and look up the Marine Officer Selection Officer in your area and give him a call. The OSO is the one who can actually get you into the Marine Corps, and he will (or should) have the best, most up to date information to give you advice along those lines.

PLC-Jrs is the best program out there...esp for those who are in CC. I did the CC route and transferred to UC san diego. If you want more details on it, do a search on here or send me a message and i'll give you some details on how it all worked out for me.
