Only if you were kicked out for comitting a felony. A service member can only be dishonorably discharged as the result of a general court-martial. Maybe a Special Court too? I don't recall. But anyway, unless you owe the gov't time and/or money (e.g., BDCP or an uncompleted prior enlistment contract), you're just released from service and sent home.

There's a classification for this... something like 'Released for Convenience of the Government'... but it's considered an honorable discharge.

This is quite literal, only you'll do it about 10 times because processing DORs out takes forever.

Has anyone/can one un-DOR? I don't know why they'd take one back, but I'm wondering.

Yes, but only while you're at OCS. Once you go home you have been issued a DD-214, and have to get a waiver if you decide to apply again. I had a buddy decide to DOR and then go back on it after meeting with the CO and they put him back in... and he ended up graduating.

That's very interesting. Do you know how long they kept him in H before putting him back in a class?

This has to be a lie. Way too much goose poop on the grass for it to be true. I can still taste it now.

You don't goto H when you DOR. Student Pool. I assume if you un-dor, they start you from scratch with a new class, but I don't know the specifics and each case is probably slightly different.

Is that to de-incentivize it / make it painful, or just because?

As far as trying to de-incentivize (is that even a word??) it really doesn't seem to matter. Another candio and myself tried to convey this information to an oc...but once you goto a candio with the information you've pretty much already made up your mind anyways. That oc's original class graduated and later said oc un-DORed.

Sometimes a DOR will hit you when you least expect it. We had a good person drop out 5th week.

This isn't the attitude that they are looking for when you sign up.
He's just looking at what will happen if he gets there and it's not for him. Some people DOR. That's a statistical fact. I'd be a little pissed off if I went there for a week not knowing at all how terrible it would be (let's face it, unless you read AW you just don't know anything about the program going in, and even we don't get the whole story), and got stuck with a dishonorable on my record that would fuck me anytime I tried to get a job the rest of my life.

Yeah you pretty much just hit the hammer on the nail... I just wanted to make sure if I end up going through with this if something happens I will not end up with a dishonorable discharge... that would suck

Don't be that guy then. You can prepare physically so that won't be an issue and you can concentrate enduring the mental stress that some give into, but everyone else suffers as well. If you really want it, it's within your grasp and you shouldn't dwell on "what if" this or that.
