I got a nice 1.5 in today just lumbering around, but another pilot at VKK had a tougher time.


By all appearances it was an elevator trim stall. Entirely screwed up landing, two terrific bounces, and nose nearly straight up. On the way down he clipped another airplane (totaled) and busted his left gear.

When did IMC/VMC enter the aviation lexicon? Don't ever remember hearing it when I was flying in the in the 80s, early 90s.

I do agree, but the instrument package in my little airplane meets “stupid idea” with ceilings at about 1500 and visibility at 1 mile!

You got it...altitude, direction and time (only one speed setting...slow).

They are were around in the early 80s at least. People just tended to say VFR/IFR incorrectly instead.

VT-10 made a point of hammering us for using the wrong one - rules versus conditions - in 1983.
