Red Bull Races '08

Anyone else make it to the race in San Diego this year? I know a few of you were planning on it? Bonhomme edged out Mangold to win it again in San Diego. I'd be interested to see/hear photos and stories.

I have over 300 shots to sort through, so I'll be doing this in phases... expect more later. I have all of these photos in much higher res (3072x2048), so if you would like any in particular send me a message with where you would like the shots emailed.

I wanted to but I went to Airfest 2008 at March ARB instead because I wanted to see the F-22 do it's demo since I never have. Nice pics you have though. I might have ventured out there had I known there was a Super Hornet demo (I haven't seen that either). Here is one pic I was able to snap of the F-22 (I swear the only time it moved slow was when it was with the WWII birds and when it was flying backwards).

I was there on Sunday... I already knew those pilots were badasses just from watching on TV and YouTube but you really dont appreciate it until youre sitting 100 feet away from them as they haul ass going 230mph vertical wingtips 10 feet off the water.

You're the second person to say that to me since Sunday. I heard the 22 demo was pretty impressive itself.

The Super Hornet demo consisted of two high alpha passes. The first he pushed the nose over and I thought he was gonna fall like a brick. I don't believe he lost more than 100' of altitude. For the second pass he maintained pitch, pushed the power up and climbed out. I was impressed. Made me think of a comment I read around here about the clean Hornet being a different bird.

More pictures tomorrow.
