Does my unit just suck?... I am the only Dec grad and I still don't have a date.

Not at all...I was a Dec grad (the only one at Cornell BTW) and was practically beating down doors at Millington last year trying to get a report date. I think I finally got one about a week before I was comissioned. Definitely make personal contact if you haven't heard by the end of this week. Also, I would have a date in mind...when I called, he said, "Well...when would you like to report?" Had orders cut for the date I requested the same day.

When I commissioned back in May, I was the only guy who had orders prior to our commissioning date. Everyone else was informed of their report date to Pensacola by the XO about 5 minutes before we walked into the ceremony.

For those of you who got your orders (current or past), how much lead time did you have before your report dates? I've got a couple Dec grads here in the same position and they're wondering how much time they'll have to put their affairs in order. We talking days, weeks or months?

Brett... I commissioned on Dec 17th...in a phone call with the detailer on the 13th or 14th...he offered me orders with a report date anytime between 2 JAN and 30 APR...I went at the end of March. If your guys have something special to take care of, I would definitely suggest the call to Millington, they were very willing to work with me.

Long story short, it really could be anything but I would expect (maybe 75%) to have a bit of stash time before reporting and anticipate a report date at the end of January/begining of February...

All that said, I had a buddy who commissioned last May who got three days between his commissioning date and his report date when most people had 3 months or more...you know the drill...it could happen.

Thanks bro. I just love how the bureau fvcks people like that though. How are people supposed to give notice to their landlords and get HHG moves set up like that, especially if they have a months long pool wait for API.

Yeah...that's what kills me. Its not like he classed up the week after he got there. They had to have him there in three days to wait for eight weeks. Bureaucratic wickets...yeah.

Yup, when I went from NPS to API, we only had 7 days from graduation to report. Not a big deal as it only took 4 days drive. This was at the end of June.

However, trying to get the date changed to the following month (wanted to take leave in route for a delayed honeymoon) was like asking the detailer to get my wings without actually going to flight school.

The beauty of all of that was that I sat around till the end of October to start API. Yaay.

brett,

you know better than too say something like that! Now I am going to show up to Fl and the whole of NAS PCola is going to think its true...haha thanks a lot!!

Flygrl88...you will learn quick enough. Brett lives to harass & instigate... :)

There is a SNA select girl from my unit at Auburn graduating this month. I'm pretty sure she has the same report date. She isn't a memeber of airwarriors though. Look for Laura from Auburn when ya'll get down there if you need any other noob's to hang out with.

However, our XO likes to keep new ensigns around for a month or two to do some bitch work.

I thought that's what Ensigns were for? That and stealing the CO's parking spot.

(being the Bull/Only Ensign in a fleet squadron is cool, as you are mostly untouchable by the hinges)

I don't know if it's possible, but if I get selected, I may attempt to get any stash job in pensacola. I'd rather be a bitch ensign in pensacola than up here in auburn.

Any suggestions?...wait, let me answer my own question with drink heavily.

You (or your command) probably aren't going to have a whole lot of say in that, just so you know.
