retroactive O-E pay

Will I get O1-E

I served 4 years 0 days on active duty, 13months in the reserves, and 2 1/2 years in the IRR. Would I qualify for O1-E? Also will my Marine OCS time 10 weeks count as active time? It seems like it would to me. Therefore, I would have 4 years (10 weeks USMC OCS) AD, 13 months reserves, and 2 1/2 years IRR, almost 8 years in total. What would my BPED time be and my Retirement time? My OSO was unsure of the factors that apply to me. Any help? Sorry for the rambling and long post.:icon_help :icon_help

^ I'm pretty sure you should get it no matter what since you have the full four years and some active reserve time. Just to be extra sure though, if your IRR contract is still active, extend it so you have no gap in contracts when you go to OCS. Tell your OSO if he has active duty guys that are on the fence (time wise) like I was to have them extend their IRR contract. For some reason it doesn't seem a lot of people know about this but an active IRR contract when you go to OCS makes those ten or twelve weeks (depending on comm. source) count on your original contract.

I talked to the local admin guy today, he's running it by the big cheese in Quantico, but it doesn't look too good for me. Anyone who reads this and has contact with an OSO please let them know about the IRR situation I just discussed. It would be nice if that were more common knowledge in that community so guys didn't miss out on a lot of pay over a technicality.

JZAB in your particular case, your IRR time will count for pay, but not retirement. They work vodoo with active reserve time and come out with some amount of active time it counts for. If you haven't had any gaps in your time your PEBD will remain the same. They changed my PEBD to some arbitrary date to make up for my contract lapse. So mine has absolutely nothing to do with when I came in.

Thanks

Well in my case their should be no contract laps the 2 1/2 years I quoted was an estimate before I get commissioned, my contract expires in March 2008, and I will get commissioned in May 2007. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.:D
