Road to 350: What Does the US Navy Do Anyway?

Replying to Spekkio isn’t worth it. Recommend the ignore option. Am amazed at what I see in only half of the posts.
Spekkio is, for all practical purposes, an escapee from an insane asylum, masquerading as a non screened O5.

Perhaps you missed the 2nd part:
…the Ukrainian surprise drone attack deep within Russia changes the paradigm. Keep the logistics and support over there, but we might be reaching the stage where high value assets have to be kept at a distance and flown in when warranted. The delay of a several days will be the price of security.
B-1’s being sent home due to terrorist threat:

Funny, but the exchange about the "Nazi eagle" is kinda stupid, as that has been the symbol of OSD for decades. Usually there is an olive branch below the arrows, though not always.
When you fundamentally change the iconography of the seal and then deliberately take out the colors, you’re begging for the comparison. It’s a bad look.

However the public was likely to perceive it, I'm skeptical that there was an intentional effort to make the symbol more "Nazi-like" and think the reaction is overblown. The eagle is only superficially more similar to certain versions of the reichsadler than it was before and monochrome versions of agency symbols for use in promotional materials are nothing new. This is a nothing burger in my opinion and distracts from real issues.

That would be true if this was a one-off, but unfortunately the administration has used more and more questionable iconography lately.

Which event do you think you're talking about, because it's certainly not Luzon? I assume you think you're rambling about the Philippine Sea long range sunset launch. Spruance's chief of staff was Cal Moore, who very much was not an aviator. Are you talking about his disagreement with Mitscher (TF 58 commander), which was related but not really the event you're talking about?

To reiterate Flash's point, Spruance was probably the most even keeled Flag of General officer at that level in any US force. Saying he has the maturity of a 14 year old girl is absolute insanity.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. Go ahead and write the people who write the JPME curriculum. They don't have the same opinion of Spruance that you do.

Quite the investment in Baltimore by Anduril for the submarine community. Paging Spekkio - your thoughts on this $6+ billion?

First, I'd like to say that I'm glad I can live rent free in @Brett327's head... despite ignoring me, he has a lot to say about me.

Anyway, I can't say what is too much or too little in the realm of UUVs, and the discussion rapidly exceeds the classification of AW.com. Suffice to say, that dollar cost is a small fraction of what we'd most likely lose in a near-peer conflict, not including the fact that it cost 0 souls. UUVs will be an important aspect of our national defense strategy, and the thing that needs to be untangled is that the UUV mission set largely falls under SPECWAR but the submarine force was appointed the program manager for it. Submarines simply cannot carry UUV payloads at the scale necessary to achieve desired effects and it comes at the expense of boom and anything larger than a torpedo needs to be employed by expeditionary forces on land or an air force bomber. But someone said "it operates submerged ipso facto submarine force" and it shall be so.

The thing that is frustrating is that the 4-star and above level are have the take that acquisitions is broken, and rather than fix the process they want to short circuit it (in fairness, large chance this is coming from POTUS himself). This has led to about a dozen vendors attempting to sell their products to the Navy, each with their own C2 and data collection suite. Seeing one vendor being given a contract is a step in the right direction toward standardization, which shouldn't be a problem if we just either followed the process or re-wrote it in a thoughtful way.
