Two words : IP tunnel
Well, you missed the joys of the Websense filter. They block all porn sites, plus anything else that might fall under the category of "tasteless."
How is that an excuse? You just plain cannot do certain things with government resources that you can with personal.I wonder if the geniuses that determine what's "tasteless" or not get the privilege of using the same network? Maybe the brigade mislo should do routine checks of ALL of the officers' home computers for those who live on the yard, just to insure they are practicing what they preach. Just a thought, since they preach "lead by example" every opportunity they get. I can already hear their excuse: "the tax payers don't pay for my internet..."
Umm, yeah - they're using government resources... The simple fact that they're on a government network proves that.Midshipmen at the academy pay an IT fee each semester that covers the cost of internet and cable. They are not using goverment resources. They ARE on a government network though and that is why they "protect" it.
To add on... I am pretty sure that anyone who lives on the Yard has the exact same internet provider choices that I do i.e. they aren't on a government network.Umm, yeah - they're using government resources... The simple fact that they're on a government network proves that.
Oops, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to any officers who live on the Yard, not the MIDN.Not sure how it works for officers, but over and over again, they remind us we're on the same DoD network as the Pentagon.
