It sort of undermines the organization if you vow to ignore it's decisions don't you think?

OPEC has never run very smoothly, dysfunction is more the norm for that organization than efficiency and harmony. Many of the members regularly ignore what they decide in the OPEC meetings. Obviously the countries are looking out for their own interest than they are for an organization that has no teeth. This is not unusual OPEC, it is actually closer to the norm.
Have you ever taken a look at the membership of OPEC? Some of those countries hate each other. So the fact that they can get together in one room regularly for the past 40 odd years is a testament to the resilience of it as an organization. Writing their obituary ignores history and lacks any real basis in reality. Sound like your typical blogger.
