As a guy who's taken TKD for 3 years, I'll just say that TKD should never be used alone unless you're a master.
Why? B/c unless you seriously have enough power to knock a guy out with one kick, a close in type could just rush in and waste you.
As a result, I've adopted a new technique called "dirty fighting." It involves picking up light yet hard objects and shots designed to break bones.
And from what I hear of Marine LINE training or whatever the hell it's called, that's pretty much what they teach.
